A Plate in Time - Terms of Use

Welcome to A Plate in Time ("we", "our", "us", or the "Platform"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, applications, APIs, AI-assisted features, and related services.

By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. Testing Mode (UAT / Beta)

The Platform is currently operating in User Acceptance Testing ("UAT") mode. It is a pre-release testing environment, not a finished commercial product. By using the Platform during this period, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • the Platform may be unstable, incomplete, or contain bugs, errors, or defects;
  • features, functionality, and content may change, be removed, or stop working at any time without notice;
  • data, including recipes, images, comments, and account information, may be lost, corrupted, reset, or deleted at any time without notice or ability to recover it;
  • the Platform, or any part of it, may be taken offline, reset, or wiped entirely at any time without notice;
  • AI-assisted features are experimental and may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected results;
  • all payments, subscriptions, billing, and pricing shown on the Platform are simulated/mocked for testing purposes only; no real payments are processed and no real money is owed by or to either party;
  • you should not rely on the Platform for any commercial, professional, or critical purpose during this period;
  • you are solely responsible for retaining your own copies of any content you value, as we make no guarantee of continued availability or retention of any data.

We accept no obligation, warranty, or liability of any kind arising from your use of the Platform while it is in UAT/testing mode, beyond what is required by applicable law. This section supplements, and does not limit, the disclaimers and liability limits set out elsewhere in these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Platform. If you create an account, you represent that:

  • the information you provide is accurate;
  • you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials;
  • you are responsible for all activity under your account.

3. Platform Purpose

A Plate in Time provides recipe and food-related content, including:

  • recipe browsing and discovery;
  • recipe publishing and editing;
  • categories, tags, and media uploads;
  • AI-assisted recipe workflows;
  • image uploads and content management;
  • community and sharing features.

Some features may require an account or may be restricted based on subscription level, feature access, or usage limits.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of the content you submit, upload, or publish ("User Content"), including:

  • recipes;
  • images;
  • descriptions;
  • comments;
  • categories or tags;
  • AI-assisted edits.

By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

  • host;
  • store;
  • reproduce;
  • display;
  • distribute;
  • modify for formatting or technical purposes;
  • use the content to operate and improve the Platform.

You represent that:

  • you own the content or have permission to use it;
  • your content does not violate applicable law;
  • your content does not infringe intellectual property or privacy rights;
  • your content is not abusive, harmful, fraudulent, or misleading.

We may remove content that violates these Terms.

5. AI-Assisted Features

The Platform may provide AI-assisted functionality, including:

  • recipe drafting;
  • recipe editing;
  • category suggestions;
  • image-assisted content workflows;
  • SEO suggestions;
  • content rewrite assistance.

AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies or incomplete information. You are responsible for reviewing and validating all generated content before publishing or relying on it.

You must not use AI features to:

  • generate unlawful content;
  • impersonate others;
  • submit harmful or deceptive material;
  • violate intellectual property rights.

We may impose usage limits on AI functionality.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • interfere with Platform security or operations;
  • scrape or harvest data without permission;
  • upload malware or malicious code;
  • attempt unauthorized access;
  • abuse APIs or automated systems;
  • upload unlawful, hateful, or explicit content;
  • misuse storage or media systems.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for misuse.

7. Accounts and Access

Certain features require registration.

You are responsible for:

  • maintaining your login credentials;
  • restricting access to your devices;
  • notifying us of unauthorized access.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that:

  • violate these Terms;
  • create security risks;
  • abuse the Platform;
  • violate applicable law.

8. Subscription Features and Usage Limits

Some features may depend on subscription plans, feature access groups, or entitlement limits.

These may include limits on:

  • AI requests;
  • image storage;
  • uploaded assets;
  • content items;
  • premium functionality.

We may modify available plans or limits at any time.

9. Intellectual Property

The Platform, including its software, branding, design, logos, text, and technology, is owned by A Plate in Time or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Except as explicitly permitted, you may not:

  • copy;
  • reproduce;
  • distribute;
  • reverse engineer;
  • commercially exploit;
  • create derivative works from the Platform.

10. Third-Party Services

The Platform may rely on third-party providers for:

  • hosting;
  • authentication;
  • analytics;
  • email delivery;
  • AI services;
  • image storage;
  • CDN delivery.

We are not responsible for third-party services or external websites.

11. Availability

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

The Platform may change, be updated, suspended, or discontinued at any time without notice.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available."

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including:

  • merchantability;
  • fitness for a particular purpose;
  • non-infringement;
  • accuracy or reliability of AI-generated output.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, A Plate in Time and its operators shall not be liable for:

  • indirect damages;
  • incidental damages;
  • lost profits;
  • data loss;
  • service interruptions;
  • reliance on AI-generated content.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you to use the Platform during the previous 12 months.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless A Plate in Time, its operators, affiliates, and service providers from claims arising from:

  • your content;
  • your use of the Platform;
  • your violation of these Terms;
  • your violation of applicable law or third-party rights.

15. Privacy

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

16. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if:

  • you violate these Terms;
  • your use creates risk or liability;
  • required by law.

You may stop using the Platform at any time.

17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically.

Continued use of the Platform after updates become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
